Canadian Collegiate Rodeo Association
We are proud of our historic athletics past; Red Deer Polytechnic Athletics was recently ranked third in the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) during the past 50 years. We are also extremely excited for the future as we continue to strive for excellence in provincial and national competition.
As Kings and Queens, student-athletes are part of cohesive group of more than 200 student-athleteswho compete in ten sports on 19 teams. These sports include Basketball, Cross Country Running, Curling, Hockey, Indoor Track, Soccer, Futsal, Volleyball, Dance and Rodeo.
The Red Deer Polytechnic Rodeo team competes in the college rodeo circuit within the Canadian Collegiate Rodeo Association (CCRA). Our team has practices 2x per week (Wednesday/Thursday) at a local Ranch and collaborate with a secondary college for other rough stock training as required.
During the past several years, the Red Deer Polytechnic Rodeo team has grown in prominence.

Sportsmanship, commitment, attendance, and volunteerism are key qualities in our program, with a strong emphasis on the team environment; our students support each other in practices and at competitions as we strive for Team success.
We have been competing for more than 10 years, commencing in Winter 2013 with a small group of three, our team has fluctuated from three up to as many as forty over the last decade; we have qualified for the Canadian Collegiate Rodeo Finals every year and our team has Alumni ranging from Barrel Racers, Kelli McLeod and Rayel Daines to Bull Rider, Ashton Sahli and all Around Cowboy Cayden Nickel.
